They have been pushed up by inflation, but also by high bank interest rates, because of which many people cannot afford a home of their own. Rents for flats owned by the state or local authorities will also go up.<\/p>\n<p>Rents have jumped across the whole country, but most of all in eastern Slovakia, in Ko\u0161ice. The property market in the capital saw the second-largest increase. We are in the Bratislava borough of Karlova Ves, where the rent for a two-room flat has risen by an average of \u20ac100 over the past two years.
